A.R.S.E. is a spoof advert for Aids Recovering Survivor Enclosures, a charity that provide AIDS sufferers thematically sealed, family homes where they can live in peace and security.
This was a tricky one to do, basically I wanted to a satirical advert for a Cancer charity with the twist that their method of approach was to rip into an HIV/AIDS charity rather than selling themselves on their own merit, much like can be seen in US political campaigns.
Whilst helping somebody out with a zombie short-film the rain meant we were unable to film, despite having a dozen people fully made up as zombies, so I sat down and wrote this advert in quarter of an hour and grabbed a camera that was in the house and shot it.
I’m pretty happy with the outcome, I would have liked it to have been a little more witty and intelligent, but as it was, the advert was well received. As this was produced at Ravensbourne as part of my short-form project, I wasn’t able to grade it or make the sound as fluid as I would have liked, but the gag was still there and people found it funny, which was the priority.
